How does someone who finds running almost meditative find her way into triathlon? For Joy Tiu, it all began in high school where she found her stride as a track and field runner.
While her athletic journey began on the track, her passions extended well beyond running. She sang at events throughout her school years, a creative outlet she maintains to this day. After finishing university and pursuing a career in accounting, a chance weekend run led her to a group of triathletes she now trains and grows with.
Curious about what her body can do, she gradually added swimming and cycling to her running practice. As her training expanded, so did her discipline. Workouts often begin as early as 5 AM, timed around long work hours and early clock-outs. With every new sport, she discovered a level of endurance she didn’t know she could summon.
Ultimately, triathlon gave Joy far more than improved fitness. She experienced the magic of her body in constant motion and watched her cardiovascular capacity grow. Just as importantly, she joined a community of like-minded athletes who share her drive, each one exploring where their physical and mental boundaries truly lie.
Now, as a VIEW ambassador, Joy offers her story as an invitation to test limits, embrace movement, and find joy in the remarkable things the body can achieve.
